Hugging Face’s new humanoid robot only costs $3,000

If you want a robot assistant to live in your home and act like a vague human, you might be in luck.

Hugging faceThe company, which primarily specializes in machine learning but has recently branched out into robotics, has a new humanoid robot called HopeJr that could be released by the end of 2025.

The HopeJr robot is part of a collaboration between Hugging Face and robotics company The Robot Studio, which shared a longer video of HopeJr. YouTube:. The video comes from the Humanoids Summit in London, where the company says HopeJr was fully assembled for the first time.

The HopeJr will allegedly start shipping at least a few units by the end of 2025, and according to Hugging Face, it could cost around $3,000. (In the description of The Robot Studio’s YouTube video, however, the price is €3,000).

Interestingly, this robot is open source, which means that people have a greater degree of freedom to do what they want with it than with a closed source product.

Just as long as nobody makes one that can, you know, do bad things to people.
